Best indian restaurant london

Best indian restaurant london - Anokha Indian Restaurants are some of London’s finest Indianrestaurants and this is written from experience; being the foody that I am.

Best indian restaurant london - I was recently on a quest to huntdown an Indian restaurantI had never heard of to see if London had anIndiandelight for me tucked away in a back alley. I was craving those beautiful aromatic spices and rich creamy sauces that only thebest Indian restaurantscanproduce…but it had to be a new discovery.

I called up my friends who I frequently find amazing new eateries with and together we searched for a classy Indian restaurant, a hiddengem, in the busy streetsof London. My matefoundAnokha’s website and after being impressed by the vegetarian selection and by the sheer size of their menu- we had a winner.

A hidden pearl it certainly was, tucked away down a small back road, it’s exoticaromas calling to us from the dark to come and try their “authentic Indian flavours”- and so we did.

The menu is astonishing. The sheer array of dishes they have to offer means there is something for everyone. Even the vegetarians are spoilt for choice with their extensive vegetarian menu that Sam (miss “I can’t eat anything with a face”) was delighted to see.

I decided on the JhingaTilTikkato start with and BOY was I glad I did. The smell that hit your nose as they were brought over was delicious and as I took my first bite of the fat, juicey prawns I was itching to try my main. The breadcrumb shell waslight and crispy and the prawns juicy and sweet. The spices thenburst through giving aAsian warmth that blended with the sweet and juicy flavour of the prawns so perfectly.

Now for the main. I decided to try something from the “Anokha Specials” section; guessing that their specials is where I was going to get the best from their chef. I was feeling like some tasty meat as I had fish for starters and was feeling particularly carnivorous so lamb was really making my tummy grumble.Look at that. Right in the middle of the Lamb section of the Anokha Specials is the chef’s signature dish- “AadaGosht”.Yes. I think I’ll have that thanks, show me what you’ve got there chef.

The food arrived hot and smelling even more divine than the starters, as it should, and instantly I almost dribbled all over the table. The food was arranged beautifully making it even harder to to not just shove it in my mouth. The AadaGosht is described on the menu as “French cut english lamb, cooked Indian style with fresh ginger and green herbs - chef’s signature dish” . I cut into the lamb and it tore apart easily revealing it’s juicy pink centre, my mouth filled with saliva again. The first mouthful was a beautiful, subtle, eruption of flavour slowly exploding over my tongue with every delightful mouthful. The flavour of the lamb and the Indian spices formed a delicious fusion that had a gentle warmth coming through.

The table were totally impressed by the quality of the food and the yummy noises coming from us only proved just how amazing the food was. I think that Anokha have easily become one of my favourite restaurants to eat at in London and I’d even stretch to say that they were by far one of the best Indian restaurants in London in my opinion. I will definitely be eating there again! Thumbs up!
